Since 1997, Flint Hills Resources has reduced
refinery emissions of commonly regulated
substances such as carbon monoxide, nitrogen
oxide and sulfur dioxide by 53.4 percent on
a per-barrel of refining capacity basis. In 2006,
criteria air emissions were .07 pounds per-barrel
of refining capacity, which is 65 percent lower
than the industry average of the 50 largest
refineries in the country.
